James Chappel

I started fishing as a young boy with my father on his inflatable zodiac all over the Rhode Island coast for striped bass and bluefish.  When I was older I began surf fishing, but after a few years decided to get into kayak fishing and haven't looked back.
I currently fish the Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut shoreline for Striped Bass, Bluefish, Sea Bass, Fluke, False Albacore, and Bonito.  I started a facebook group called "Ocean State Kayak Fishing" which has become quite popular and includes members from all over New England. I am also a member of New England Kayak Fishing and post regularly in their forums.
I fish out of an Ocean Kayak Trident 13 and find it to be the perfect fishing kayak.  It handles surf launches and landings with ease which is necessary in the areas I fish. This kayak is extremely fast and it also holds all my gear and keeps everything within reach.
I have recently started fishing tournaments and plan to do even more next year including the Mass Bay Striper Shootout again as well as some tournaments in New York. I also plan to keep improving my YouTube channel with even more videos.
When I am not kayak fishing I also enjoy fishing with my children who have developed an interest in fishing.
I am beyond excited to represent ocean kayak!
